Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the Android app TCG Scanner: Card Price Check (the "App"), provided by Fengjuan Liu ("we", "us" or the "Developer"). It explains what information the App handles, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
At a glance
- No account. You don't sign up, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your collection stays on your device. Scans, photos, cards, folders and settings are stored locally.
- Card photos are used only to recognize the card. They go to our server and our AI provider; our server doesn't keep them.
- No ads and no tracking. No advertising ID, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we don't sell your data.
- Payments are handled by Google Play. We never see your payment card or billing details.
1. Information the App handles
1.1 Card photos
When you scan a card with the camera, or choose a photo with the system photo picker, the App sends that image to our recognition server over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), together with the card language you selected and the games you collect. The App reads only the photo you pick; it doesn't access the rest of your photo library.
1.2 Price and collection requests
To show prices, price history and the value of your collection, the App sends our server the IDs of the cards and printings you view or own, their quantities, and any search terms you type. These requests don't include your name, an account, an advertising ID or any device identifier. Our server uses them to answer the request and doesn't keep a copy of your collection.
1.3 Data stored on your device
Your scan history, the photos you take, your collection, folders, card conditions and settings are stored in the App's private storage on your device and are not uploaded to us. If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include this data in your device backup, which Google manages under your backup settings.
1.4 Subscription status
If you subscribe to Pro, Google Play processes the payment. The App receives from Google Play which plan you bought and the state of the purchase, uses it to unlock Pro, and stores it on your device. We don't receive your name, email address, payment card or billing address.
1.5 Technical information on our server
Like most online services, our server records basic information about each request, including the IP address, time, requested address and response status, to keep the service secure and working. For each scan, it also keeps a technical record: the time, the text the AI read from the card (such as its name, number and set), the matched card, the image size, processing times and any error. Scan records don't include the photo, your IP address or anything else that identifies you.
1.6 Reminders
If you turn on "Remind me before the free trial ends", the App asks for notification permission and schedules a reminder on your device. No information is sent anywhere for this.
2. Permissions
- Camera: to scan cards. It's used only while the scan screen is open.
- Internet: to recognize cards and get prices.
- Notifications (optional, Android 13 and later): only for the trial reminder you turn on.
The App doesn't ask for access to your location, contacts, microphone or files.
3. How we use information
- To recognize the card in your photo and estimate its condition.
- To show card details, prices, price history and the value of your collection.
- To provide the Pro features you subscribed to.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, fix problems and improve recognition accuracy, using the technical records described above, not your photos.
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the App, and only as much as they need:
- Our AI provider, currently Google (Gemini API). Our server sends the card photo to Google's Gemini service to read the card and estimate its condition. Google processes it under the Gemini API Additional Terms and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Amazon Web Services, which hosts our server in the United States.
- Google Play, which processes subscriptions and payments under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Price data providers (such as JustTCG). Our server asks them for card prices. When a card isn't in our database yet, it may look the card up by name or number. We never send them your photos or any information about you.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users or others. If the App is transferred to another developer, information may be transferred with it, and this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to it.
5. How long we keep information
- Card photos: our server holds the photo in memory only while it processes the scan, and doesn't store it. Google may keep it for a limited time as described in its Gemini API terms.
- Server access logs (which include IP addresses) are kept only for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, and are then deleted automatically.
- Scan technical records contain no photos or information that identifies you, and may be kept to improve recognition.
- Data on your device stays until you delete it in the App, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can delete scans and cards in the App at any time. Clearing the App's storage or uninstalling the App deletes everything it stored on your device.
- You can turn off camera or notification permissions in Android settings. Scanning needs the camera, but you can still choose photos with the photo picker.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU or UK, the CCPA in California, or the Personal Information Protection Law in China), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because there are no accounts and our server's records aren't linked to you, we usually can't tell which records are yours, but you can contact us with any request and we'll respond as the law requires.
7. International transfers
The Developer is based in China, our server is in the United States, and Google may process data in other countries. Your information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live, where data protection laws may differ. We use encrypted connections and send only what each service needs.
8. Security
All communication between the App and our server is encrypted with HTTPS, and we keep as little information as possible. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Links to other sites
The App may open other websites, such as a card's page on TCGplayer or your subscriptions in Google Play. Those sites are run by others, and their own privacy policies apply.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date, and for significant changes we'll also let you know in the App when possible. Changes take effect when they are posted.
